The present Act lays down provisions relating to the protection of the environment and to the assessment of certain plans and programmes likely to have significant effects on the environment. In particular, the purpose of the Act is to transpose the Directive 2001/42/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on the assessment of the effects of certain plans and programmes on the environment of 27 June 2001.
