This Act provides both for animal health and animal welfare. They renew legislation in this field, notably the Protection of Animals Acts 1911 and 1965 and the Diseases of Animals Acts 1966 to 2011. The Act expresses the consideration that major breakdowns of animal welfare there are often both health and welfare issues to be dealt with.
