This Act provides for the protection of the Antarctic environment by, among other things: providing for permits for entering and remaining in Antarctica and for and for exploration and exploitation of mineral resources by British citizens; by placing restrictions on the taking of fauna and flora and introducing non-native animals and plants into Antarctica by British citizens; providing for the application of criminal law to British citizens operating in the Antarctic.
