The Rules provide for the institution of an Institutional Animals Ethics Committee which shall deliberate and supervise experiments conducted on animals for research in the field of physiology, pathology and treatment in order to ensure the compliance with the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 (59 of 1960).
