Article 6 of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) requests each party to develop national strategies, plans or programmes for the conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity. The European Community Biodiversity Strategy set out in this Communication provides the framework for developing policies and instruments in order to comply with the Convention. It aims to anticipate, prevent and attack the causes of significant reduction or loss of biological diversity at the source. T
