The scope of this Decree is to regulate the acquisition or remodelling of purse seine fishing vessels in relation with its fishing capacity having special regard to the sustainability of fishing efforts. Without a permit of the Director of Fisheries it shall be prohibited to fish with purse seine for herring, sprat, mackerel, blue whiting, and capelin by vessels with a length in excess of 90 feet or a loading capacity of 1500 hl or more.
