The aim pursued by this Directive is to obtain reliable and complete statistics on the production potential of plantations of certain species of fruit trees in the Community and on medium-term estimates of Community production and supply. The Member States shall carry out during 2002, and on a five years basis thereafter, surveys on plantations of certain species of fruit trees existing on their territory. The following species shall be surveyed: dessert apples; dessert pears; peaches; apricots;
