This Order makes provision for a new uniform registration system for uses of the main inland waterways in respect of which the Environment Agency is the navigation authority. The Order requires an owner or a master of a vessel to register that vessel with the Agency. An owner or master of a vessel must not keep, let for hire or use the vessel on waterways unless registered and unless there is in force in relation to the vessel a policy of insurance complying with the requirements of Schedule 3.
