These Regulations implement Commission Directive 2000/51/EC of 26 July 2000 amending Directive 95/31/EC laying down specific criteria of purity concerning sweeteners for use in foodstuffs. Purity criteria concern the specifications and analytical techniques for all approved additives. This Statutory Instrument replaces the purity criteria specification for the sweeteners Mannitol (E421) and Maltitol Syrup (E965(ii)) which had originally been laid down in Directive 95/31/EC.
