The 42 regulations are divided into 6 Parts: Preliminary and general (I); Licensing by local authorities of discharges to waters (II); Licensing by sanitary authorities of discharges to sewers (III); Appeals (IV); Registers (V); Water quality management plans (VI).
Plans of Part VI shall be made by local authorities in accordance with section 15 of the Local Government (Water Pollution) Act, 1977. Definitions are given separately for each part.
