The aim of these Regulations is to ensure that radioactive waste is managed in a manner that protects human health and the environment now and in the future without imposing undue burdens on future generations. These provisions apply to all stages of radioactive waste management, from generation to disposal, when the radioactive waste results from civilian activities.
