This Act provides for the management, conservation and exploitation of fishery resources and transposes the contents of the Council Directive 92/43/EEC on the conservation of natural habitats and of wild fauna and flora. The stated purpose of this Act is to implement European Community policy in the field of fisheries. Fish is declared to be a natural resource under special national protection in accordance with national and Community rules.
