This Act grants the power to the Central Government to appoint a person to be the Central Registrar of Co-operative Societies. The Act also states that no multi-state co-operative society shall be registered under this Act, unless its main objects are to serve the interests of members in more than one state and its bye-laws provide for social and economic betterment of its members through self-help and mutual aid in accordance with the co-operative principles.
