The present Agreement signed by the Government of Canada, the Makivik Corporation (representing the Nunavik Inuit) and the Government of Nunavut settles unresolved issues stemming from the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement. A unique feature of this Agreement is its transboundary nature. While the Nunavik Inuit communities are in northern Quebec, the claims are in Nunavut as well as in Newfoundland and Labrador.
