The present Ordinance enforces the Federal Environment Protection Act of 7 October 1983. In particular, the Ordinance regulates the division of tasks and financing of measures for the protection of the environment between the canton and municipalities. The text consists of 31 articles divided into 4 Parts as follows: Purpose (I); Organization (II); Financing (III); Transitional and final provisions (IV).
