These Regulations transpose in the United Kingdom specified articles of Directive 2009/28/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources. They, among other things: designate the competent authority for purposes of the Directive and these Regulations; require the Secretary of State to ensure that the share of energy from renewable sources in the United Kingdom as calculated in accordance with article 5 of the Directive is increased as
