In order to increase vertical integration and focused oversight of food safety regulation, the State Council establishes the China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA, ministry level administration), which is an organization directly under supervision of the State Council. CFDA will assume responsibilities that were formerly divided among several ministries and administrations.
