The Act aims at the protection of spontaneous plant species for nutritional, medicinal or ornamental purposes. In particular, it prohibits the gathering of rare and endangered species. Species which are not threatened with extinction may be collected in compliance with articles 3 to 5, which fix the maximum quantity that may be harvested (upon municipal permit) as well as the minimum size under which the species concerned may not be collected.
