This Regional Legislative Decree applies, with the adaptations to the archipelago of Madeira, the provisions established by Decree-Law No 140/99, as amended by Decree-Law 49/2005, which shall review the transposition into National legislation of the EU Directives on conservation of wild birds (birds Directive) and the conservation of natural habitats and of wild fauna and flora (habitats Directive) habitats. It lays down a list specifying all protected areas within the archipelago of Madeira.
