Key biotopes (valuable habitats) are areas requiring protection in a commercial forest, where the probability of occurrence of endangered, vulnerable or rare species is great. Selection of key biotopes consists in identification of such areas in commercial forests that correspond to the distinctive features specified in the Classifier of Key Biotopes and require protection.
