Section 16 of the Rotuma Act (Cap. 122) is amended: (a) in subsection (1) by inserting after "may" the words "subject to the approval of the Minister,"; (b) by repealing subsection (2) and substituting "(2) Regulations made under subsection (1) may prescribe penalties for breach of the regulations not exceeding a fine of $2,000 and imprisonment for 12 months.". Section 16 concerns regulation making powers of the Rotuma Council.
