These Regulations implement in relation to England Commission Decision 2008/289/EC on emergency measures regarding the unauthorized genetically modified organism “Bt 63” in rice products. They prohibit the first placing on the market of any “specified product”, i.e. any product listed in the Annex to the Commission Decision that originates from or has been consigned from China, if conditions as laid down in these Regulations are not met.
