This Act, consisting of 50 sections divided into seven Chapters, grants the power to the Collector of a district in which irrigation system is situated to establish a Water Users Association formed by all farmers that use water resource in a particular area for the purposes of irrigation. The Act further details the composition, powers, functions and funding process of the Association. Additionally, the Act provides for offences and penalties for violating the provisions of the Act.
