The present Law lays down provisions relating to the protection of bee-hives in Thüringen. Article 1 establish that competent regional authorities are empowered to issue regulations authorizing the setting-up of bee-hives in certain areas. These authorities may open, modify or close down a bee-breeding colony having a protected perimeter of 8 km. Within such an area it is generally not allowed to open another bee-breeding colony.
