​On 6 September 2012, the Intergovernmental Conference on Education for Sustainable Development: Tbilisi+35 was
launched in Tbilisi, Georgia with the participation of 300 delegates from over 98 countries, representatives of different intergovernmental, non-governmental and national organizations. The Conference was opened by the President of Georgia, H.E. Mr. Mikheil Saakashvili. The welcoming speeches were delivered by Mr. Qian Tang, Assistant Director-General, UNESCO and Mr. Jan Dusic, Acting Director and Regional Representative, Regional Office for Europe, UNEP.
