Abstract:
The defendants' ship was seized by Shanwei Customs Officials in the waters of Guangdong Province. The Shanwei Intermediate People's Court of Guangdong Province delivered a judgment on 10 June 2009 sentencing all the defendants ranging from 3 years imprisonment to life imprisonment and fines for smuggling rare animals and rare animal products and confiscating the seized animals and products. The appeal court of the High People's Court of Guangdong Province upheld the trial court's verdict and dismissed the appeal.
