Abstract:

The Ecuadorian Constitutional Court is asked to review the constitutionality of two presidential decrees establishing the states of exception in the cantons of Tena, Archidona and Arosemena Tola in the Province of Napo to help the local communities that were victims of the flooding and landslides that destroyed an important part of the agricultural and productive infrastructures.

The court considered that the decree was in line with the constitution as it states that the States is entitled and has to take any emergency measures to protect the local populations and prevent more disasters in the region.
