Regulation (EU) No. 1380/2013 aims to progressively eliminate discards in all Union fisheries through the introduction of a landing obligation for catches of species subject to catch limits. Pursuant to those provisions, this Regulation sets out a discard plan for certain demersal fisheries in South-Western waters for the period 2019-2021. More specifically, in ICES subareas 8, 9, 10 and specified Fishery Committee for the Eastern Central Atlantic (CECAF) areas, the landing obligation provided for in article 15(1) of Regulation (EU) No. 1380/2013 shall apply to demersal species in accordance with this Regulation for the period 2019-2021. Exemptions are laid down for Norway lobster, skates, rays and red sea bream.
