These Regulations revoke EU fisheries legislation for the United Kingdom and apply amended EU legislation concerning fisheries and aquaculture to the United Kingdom as a consequence of the UK leaving the European Union. They also amend the Sea Fishing (Enforcement) Regulations 2018. These Regulations make amendments to retained direct EU legislation in the fields of the common fisheries policy of the European Union and alien and locally absent species in aquaculture. revoked EU legislation is listed in the Schedule. The Regulations also concern transfer of regulatory functions and IUU fishing prevention (notably amendments are made to Council Regulation (EC) No 1005/2008 establishing a Community system to prevent, deter and eliminate illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing).
