The Cabinet of Ministers, in order to improve the ecological situation of the country, prevention of rising of sand, salt and dust from the drained bottom of the Aral sea and mitigation of the negative impact of global climate change, decrees that State administration of Forestry of the Republic of Uzbekistan shall be responsible for planting permanent "green cover" protective forests on the dry bottom of the Aral sea and in the Aral region with a view of restoration of ecosystem, monitoring progress of planting and environmental restoration. The aforesaid administration shall study desertification process with a view of selecting plant species adapted to salty and sandy soil, in particular tamarix and atriplex (salt bush) and perform planting thereof. Information related to Green Cover protective forests on the dry bottom of the Aral Sea and in the Aral region shall be provided to the general public.
