General Technical Regulation on safety of non-alcoholic beverages establishes requirements for safety of non-alcoholic beverages with a view of protection of human life, health, environment, legal and natural persons, and public property. It shall be applicable to beverages listed in the Annex. General Technical Regulation shall be applicable to: (a) soft drinks; (b) raw materials and components; (c) manufacturing processes; (d) transport, storage, trade and disposal of non-alcoholic beverages. It shall not be applicable to infant food and beverages manufactured for export. Identification of soft drinks is performed for the following purposes: (a) ensuring the rights of consumers to a reasonable choice of products, taking into account reliable information about the product; (b) protection of consumers from unscrupulous manufacturers (sellers); (c) determination of compliance of the product, including its name, with the requirements of the Technical Regulation; (d) confirmation of conformity of the product to the information provided by the manufacturer (seller); and (e) ensuring the protection of the interests of all market participants. Circulation of soft drinks on the domestic market of the Republic of Uzbekistan is carried out in the presence of a certificate of conformity. Non-alcoholic beverages that have passed the conformity assessment (approval) process and meet the requirements of the Technical Regulation are labelled with the national mark of conformity.
