This Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers introduces voluntary ecological labelling of produce and establishes that: (a) ecolabelling of products shall be performed by ecolabelling authorities accredited in accordance with the established procedure;(b) the object of ecological labelling shall be the produce, use, consumption, transportation, storage and utilization of which has the least harmful impact on the environment, public health and biological resources; (c) manufacturers mark their products with the environmental safety label on a voluntary basis, after receiving a certificate of voluntary environmental labeling of products; (c) it shall be prohibited to use the word "eco" in the name, on the package, in the shipping documentation of products and in its advertising in the absence of a certificate of voluntary ecolabelling of products; (d) voluntary ecolabelling does not apply to medicines, veterinary drugs, medical devices, goods containing substances, drugs and mixtures classified as toxic, mutagenic, carcinogenic and dangerous to the environment. State Committee on Ecology and Environmental Protection shall be appointed authorized state body responsible for voluntary ecological labelling of the produce, expertise and approval of environmental standards with the inclusion of environmental criteria and improvement of ecological labelling system in accordance with the requirements of international standards. The ecological safety mark shall be used for labelling products manufactured in the Republic of Uzbekistan in accordance with the category of ecological safety assigned thereto according to the Annex No. 1. The eco-safety label is placed on the product or on the label (package), in the accompanying documents and when advertising products. Use of the ecosafety mark in the characteristics and names of goods, products, as well as in advertising, indication of any properties, products related to environmental characteristics, as well as the use of such inscriptions as "ecologically clean", "ecologically safe", "ecologically favorable" without passing the procedure of ecolabelling and in the absence of a certificate for marking the products with the ecological safety sign is prohibited.
