This Ministerial Order, consisting of 33 articles divided into five Chapters, establishes the Functional structure of the General Directorate for Fisheries, Aquaculture and Marine Resources (DGPARM) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MAP). It establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned DGPARM aiming at ensuring the general orientation and integrated coordination of all services of the MAP related to fisheries, aquaculture and marine resources. In particular, DGPARM aims at performing the following tasks: Support the Government in defining the National policy for Fisheries, Aquaculture and Marine Resources in all its aspects; Guarantee and ensure the monitoring on the National policy; Ensure an adequate exploitation of the marine living resources available in areas under national jurisdiction and water spaces aimed to the development of aquaculture; Conduct, promote and disseminate studies on the organization and exercise of fisheries and aquaculture production; Authorizing the structures and productive activities in the field of sea fishing, and aquaculture, as well as in the areas of the processing industry and packaging of fishery products; Ensure sectoral planning and provide technical support; Prepare plans and programmes for coastal areas and the high seas; Facilitate conservation, prevention of the ecosystem and fishing resources, as well as capacity building for coastal communities; etc.
