The Cabinet of Ministers validates the following proposals of the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Alleviation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade, the State Committee for Ecology and Environmental Protection on the main directions of setting environmental requirements and standards of environmental protection in enterprises of the mining and metallurgical industry based on international standards: (a) bringing environmental requirements and standards of environmental protection in the mining and metallurgical industry to the level of the ten best countries in the world based on the index of achieving the goals of the international "green economy" (Global Green Growth Index, GGGI); (b) introduction of low-cost and resource-saving technologies in mining and metallurgical enterprises, state support for effective activities in nature protection and restoration of natural resources; and (c) conducting the optimal regulatory policy aimed at gradually introducing a transparent and effective environmental management system in mining and metallurgical enterprises based on international standards.
