The Conference of the Parties

1. Takes note of the information contained in the note by the Secretariat on cooperation between the Basel Convention and the International Maritime Organization;(1)

2. Takes note with appreciation of the assessment, prepared by the Public Waste Agency of Flanders, on how far the current Basel Convention technical guidelines address wastes covered by the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships, 1973, as modified by the Protocol of 1978 relating thereto and as further amended by the Protocol of 1997,(2) and encourages parties and others to use it;
