The twelfth meeting of the Persistent Organic Pollutants Review Committee (POPRC-12) will be held from 19 to 23 September 2016 at the FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy. Pre-meetings will take place in the morning of 19 September 2016. POPRC-12 is organized back-to-back with the twelfth meeting of the Chemical Review Committee of the Rotterdam Convention, convening at the same venue from 14 to 16 September 2016.At its twelfth meeting, the Committee will consider, among others, draft risk profiles on dicofol and on pentadecafluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), its salts and PFOA-related compounds; a draft risk management evaluation on short-chain chlorinated paraffins; additional information on decabromodiphenyl ether (commercial mixture, c-decaBDE) for the further defining of some critical spare parts in the automotive and aerospace industries and on the use in textiles in developing countries in the view of strengthening its recommendation to the COP on listing decabromodiphenyl ether in Annex A to the Convention; and new information in relation to listing of hexachlorobutadiene (HCBD) in Annex C to the Convention. Additional items on the agenda of the meeting pertain to: consolidated guidance on alternatives to perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS) and its related chemicals; draft report for the evaluation and review of brominated diphenyl ethers listed in Annex A to the Convention to be conducted by COP-8 as well as supporting effective participation in the work of the Committee.
