This Act provides rules for the identification of animals that do not occur naturally in the wild. The Food Safety Authority shall act as controller of records in the system of animal identification, but may delegate functions to other public bodies. The Act sets out the information that shall be registered. Such information shall be provided in electronic form by animal keepers and animal brokers. Places where animals are kept shall be registered. The Act also provides for the marking and tagging of animals and inspections and other control measures.
