The purpose of these Provisions is to standardize the risk analysis of imported animals and animal products, prevent the risk of introduction of animal diseases, protect the production of agriculture, animal husbandry and fishery, and protect human health and ecological environment. The Provisions consist of 27 Articles divided into 6 Chapters, dealing with: General matters; Determination of harmful factors; Risk assessment; Risk management; Communication on risks; Supplementary provisions.
Risk assessment procedures shall be initiated for animals, animal products, animal genetic materials, animal derived feed, biological products and animal pathological materials which contain harmful factors. According to the needs, animal health and public health systems in the exporting countries or regions shall be evaluated.
