This national beche-de-mer fishery management plan is made by the National Fisheries Authority. under Section 28 of the Fisheries Management Act 1998. It sets out national and provincial management arrangement for beche-de-mer and management measures regarding beche-de-mer. The objectives of the Plan include sustainable fisheries with minimal impact on the environment and protection of coastal communities, in particular of customary fishermen. The beche-de-mer fishery will be managed nationally and National Management Advisory Committee (NMAC) will be formed. To ensure strong input from the Provinces, NFA will encourage provinces in the formation of Provincial Management Advisory Committees (PMACs). Management measures concern licensing, catch limits, trade, restrictions, closure of the fishery and reporting.
