These Regulations provide for the classification of regulated carcases in accordance with Commission Regulation (EC) 1208/81. Regulation 4 provides for the registration of persons operating regulated slaugtherhouse businesses. "Regulated" slaughterhouse is defined in Regulation 2. Marks shall be positioned on carcases as specified Schedule 3, paragraph 1 of Commission Regulation (reg. 5). Regulation 6 allows labelling of carcases instead of marking in certain circumstances. Classification shall be carried out by licensed classifiers (reg. 8). Regulation 10 provides for classification by the Meat and Livestock Commission. The remaining provisions deal with powers of enforcement officers and prescribe offences and penalties. (15 regulations and 4 Schedules)
