The Decree consists of 24 sections divided into 4 Chapters: Scope, application sphere and definitions (I); General provisions (II); Additional requirements for importation of third countries (III); Final provisions (IV).
The scope of this Decree is to prevent the spreading of infectious diseases and to establish sanitary requirements in relation with the importation and exportation from and to EEA countries and selected third countries of fresh meat of poultry other birds. Requirements regard farmed animals, marking, certification, transportation, etc. Chapter III contains provisions which apply to trade with countries other than those of the European Economic Area. Reference is made to various Council Directives. Article 8 provides for health certification before dispatch of meat.
