The prime responsibility for the implementation of the policy relative to the destruction of diseased animals is transferred on 1 October 2001 from the Ministry of public Health, Welfare and Sports to the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature Conservation and Fisheries, in so as to create a better response to infectious diseases such BSE and Foot and Mouth disease.
