This Decree applies to the following kinds of salmonella of domestic fowl (Gallus domesticus) and avian typhoid fever: Salmonella enteritidis and Salmonella typhimurium, Salmonella gallinarum and Salmonella pullorum. The provisions of this Decree are binding for all plants and farms breeding and keeping domestic fowl, incubating and packaging eggs. Protection against salmonella is based on laboratory analysis of animals, classification and inspections of poultry stocks and premises. Domestic fowl and other poultry stocks and farms are to be classified by the animal health and food control authority. This Decree determines the measures to be taken in case of contamination (marketing restrictions, slaughtering, disinfection of premises, use of veterinary drugs, neutralization of contaminated animals, etc.). Poultry and egg farms must report on the situation of protection to the competent authority every six months.
