This Decree prescribes rules relative to the fish farming for human consumption and for reproduction purposes. It shall apply to aquaculture and mariculture in the territory of Norway, its continental shelf and the economic zone. The aim of the Decree is to safeguard a strong fish farming sector and the breeding of good and healthy fish and the safeguarding of the health and well-being of fish in fish farms.
The Decree makes provision, among other things, in relation with; requirements and conditions for the operation of fish farms; health control; protection of the environment; use of potentially harmful substances; production of biomass; use and quality control of water for aquaculture facilities; and slaughtering of aquaculture animals and handling of dead animals.
