This Standard is formulated for the purpose of implementing the Environmental Protection Law of the People's Republic of China, the Law of the People's Republic of China on Prevention and Control of Water Pollution and the Air Pollution Prevention and Control Law and controlling pollution from wastewater, waste residue and odour caused by livestock and poultry breeding. The Standard applies to breeding farms and areas with intensive and large scale operation. It is not suitable for individual breeder. In view of the characteristics of pollution discharge of the livestock and poultry sector, the standard provides such control indexes as those for biochemistry, hygiene and appearance. According to different scale of intensive breeding, the standard sets out maximum daily discharge concentration on average for water pollutants and odour, total allowed water discharge and standard for environmental disposal of residues.
