These Regulations: give effect to European Union legislation on the testing of breeding flocks of domestic fowl for salmonella and on control measures if flocks are infected; and provide for the approval of laboratories to conduct tests.
The owner or person in charge of a breeding flock shall ensure that samples are taken at a holding on which the flock is held in accordance with Part 1 of the Schedule to these Regulations and that each sample and record is dealt with in accordance with Part 2 of that Schedule. The Regulations prohibit operation of a laboratory for the purposes of these Regulations and the EC Regulations here implemented other than under and in accordance with an approval granted by the Minister.
