These Regulations give effect to Community legislation on animal health requirements for aquaculture animals and products thereof and on the prevention and control of certain diseases in aquatic animals. The Regulations do not apply to wild aquatic animals harvested or caught for direct entry into the food chain. The Regulations, among other things: (a) place restrictions on the movement of live aquatic animals; (b) place restrictions on the sale of live aquatic animals and products; (c) place restrictions on the import of live aquatic animals or aquaculture products; (d) require the notification of diseases; (e) provide for the declaration of containment zones and provide for quarantine; (f) require permits for the slaughter of aquatic animals under suspicion of disease; (g) provide for fish health authorizations for premises where aquaculture products are handled; and (h) provide for vaccination.
