These Regulations amend the Planning and Development Act 2000 in section 172 and the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 in Part 2 of Schedule 5 in order to transpose into Irish law the provisions of Directive 2011/92/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council on the assessment of the effects of certain public and private projects on the environment as amended by Directive 2014/52/EU amending. In the Act of 2000, the amendment concerns a planning application made in respect of a development or class of development referred to in regulations under section 176 and EIA. Schedule 5 of the Regulation sets out development for purposes of section 176. The main concern is deep drilling.
