These Regulations transpose into Irish law the provisions of Council Regulation (EC) No 671/2003 which establishes, for fishing vessels greater than 10 metres in overall length and operating in certain waters, a fishing effort scheme and additional conditions for monitoring, inspection and surveillance in the context of recovery of certain cod stocks. The Regulations set rules for fishing and landing of fish by sea-fishing boats specified in regulation 4, operating in a specified area and deploying any specified fishing gears.
