These Regulations update and consolidate existing Regulations on food irradiation. They give effect in Northern Ireland to Community legislation in this field. The Regulations control the treatment of food with ionising radiation and the importation, storage, transportation and sale of irradiated food. They restrict the treatment of food with ionising radiation and the importation, storage and transport for the purpose of sale, and sale of, irradiated food.
